Old-Style Portrait of Nyssa (2017)

Old Style Nyssa, a Portrait An old-style Nyssa stands for a classic portrait.

This is a picture I rediscovered and finished it in 2017, years after I started it. Because there’s a lot I love about this illustration: The glittery dress. The mountains. And the roses.

I keep coming back to her roses, no matter how much Nyssa’s design changes. Blood-red roses with strong thorns are just the perfect flower for her. They’ll show up in the comic, too – Nyssa breeds them, she’s got a garden full of them. It’s her hobby. And since her world is kinda medivial/early renaissance, she’s the only one who has these modern-style, full-petal’ed roses. A tiny touch of unicorn magic.

And yes, sometimes I miss her old furry self – but her more human design fits the current mood of the story so much better.
