That’s the Logo; isn’t it pretty?
In the hallowed traditions of webcomics it is self-made – thanks to some stubbornness and the help of gracious souls who put logo design tutorials onto the internet. I’d like to buy a professional overhaul of it if a print collection ever becomes a thing, but for now this one nicely. I’m actually quite happy with it!
The logo, however, isn’t the only thing that got done: The script for Nyx+Nyssa Volume 1 is finished, too. It’s fully edited and progressing nicely through the thumb-nailing stage. I still end up rewriting things here and there during thumb-nailing, simply because what works in prose does not necessarily work on page. But all in all things are coming along nicely.
I’m up to page fourteen now, and the thumbnails themselves vary from „cross means face goes here“ to nearly complete underdrawings – business as usual for me. I need more details for dynamic poses then I need for landscapes and portraits, just to see if the action reads clearly. My goal is to finish the thumb-nailing stage for Volume one this August, although there might be some overrun into September. It’s a lot of pages.
I still want to start publishing Nyx+Nyssa this year; ideally Volume 1 is fully finished by then. It is around 100 pages – and since I plan to publish twice a week, I’d have a full year’s worth of buffer. That should be enough to keep the updates smooth, even for someone who works in spurts and batches like I do.
Even ignoring the art, there’s still a lot to do: Web-design, web-copy, the script for Volume 2, things like that; but those will happen in all due time, too.
I’ll keep you all updated!
