NaNoWriMo 2016, Day 30

50116 words. I won.
I put those last few words on a scene of Nyssa collapsing from overuse of her power. Fitting. Script itself is halfway to two-thirds done; all the setting up for the climax has happened at least. Worked out nicer and tighter than I expected. Neat.
I shall celebrate later, when I am not as sick as a dog.
For now, I’ll play Pokemon Sun in the bath now.

NaNoWriMo 2016, Day 24

So, yesterday the NaNoWriMo goal was 40000 words. I am at 21081. Trying hard not to panic. I KNOW myself. If I have a deadline, most of the work will be done in the last 20% of the allotted time – everything before is just preparation to make this rush as easy as possible. It’s what I do with nearly everything, from art to learning, to cooking and cleaning. And it sucks. Incidentally, this is why I tend to delay thing without deadlines  infinitely – No “do it now!” rush. Part of it is that I naturally work in bursts. I tend gorge on an activity – writing...

NaNoWriMo 2016, Day 10

So. 8,423 words so far. The goal word count for today is 16667 words. Whoops. Well, it’s nearly 8,5k words that didn’t exist before. I covered three scenes, of which one is great and the other already needs extensive rewrites. I had to employ the “note to myself about what to change and then soldier on as if the change already had happened technique to that one.  Three scenes of maybe five to ten pages each. My outline has around 20 scenes right now. Yep. Unlike my initial prediction, I won’t have any trouble with hitting the 50000 words – apparently I am quite...

NaNoWriMo 2016, Day 3

Day three and I am behind. 2.429 words so far. But it’s fine, so I keep telling myself. I doubt that the final wordcount of N+N will even hit 50k – it’s a comic script and the story is not that long. And the main goal is to hammer out the rough draft so it can rest in a digital drawer over December. I’d like to do the structural edits in January and I need fresh eyes for that. Still, I really would like to get that stupid word count  trophy… I’ve done it once, around 2006 or 2008 with a Metroid fanfic of all things, and I’d really would like proof that I still have it in me. But no...

October 2016 in Review

Politics is pissing me off, but what else is new? My muted keywords list over at twitter is starting to resemble a full-fledged dictionary, but stuff still bleeds through. I wouldn’t bother with social media anymore, if it weren’t for all those fantastic artists to look at. Health I’ve started on a new medicamentation this months and it does evil, evil things to my digestive tract. Here’s hoping the side-effects soon subside, because it’s clearly doing what it’s supposed to do, so there’s that. Otherwise, after a stint with my autumnal horror cold, I am running again. I am learning...

September 2016 in Review

Holy Frack, where did September go?! Last time I checked I posted the August Review. Shesh. Health & Fitness Buying the Apple Watch might have been the best thing I ever did for my health. I doubled the amount I moved, I am training consistently, doing Yoga again and, most importantly, I am now running three times a week like a clockwork – and I am getting better at that too. 3,3 kilometres doesn’t sound so much, but it all adds up and I am getting faster and more enduring. Art & Writing: Got a plan to start up ToC again soon with weekly updates. Hope it’ll work out. I’ll...

August 2016 in Review

Wow. August went by FAST. Anyway, lets get on with it! Health & Fitness I blame Pokemon Go. It got me walking again, as fast as possible to hatch eggs, and first August week I came to a spot where it was time to decide if I just will go slower for the games sake or say screw it and take up running again. So I bit the bullet, bought shoes (and finally had an excuse to pick up an Apple Watch) and now I am running again. It’s hard, since I am still very much on the heavy side, but I am making progress. The Apple Watch might be even more important for me than the running shoes, since it has...

July 2016 in Review

I had this last week off, and the second I left work, a huge weight dropped off my shoulders and I perked up. Man, I needed that vacation! Health & Fitness: Got a desk and new chair, because the old way to game screwed up my elbow. Well, putting it together gave me a harsh case of sore back muscles, but it was worth it. The new chair is NICE, and now both James and I have their own space to game properly. Walking a lot, nearly hitting 10k steps everyday. Thinking of picking up an AppleWatch sorely for the health programs. And the more accurate step counter.   Art & Writing:...

June 2016 in Review

Another rough month, much to my dismay. I am less sure about prevailing these days, but somehow I’ll muddle through. Traveling from Monday to Friday every damn week is exhausting. Health & Fitness: I organised my weekly hotel so that I have a half hour walk from work and back. It is doing wonders for my body – For example the old stiffness is gone from hip and knee joints and it feels great. Sport helps! It’s nice to have a body that’s not five minutes away from a breakdown! Art & Writing: Slowly chipping away at ToC and some designs for Nyx&Nyssa here and there. I just do...

May 2016 in Review

Shesh. This month was rough. New projects always throw me out of my patterns, and this one needs even more travel than the last one – I am away from home and everyone I love five days a week, and it is hard. Still, we prevail. Health & Fitness This hotel has a fitness room – just a bunch of weights and a few cardio machines. But man it is useful. It’s good to move daily, even though I learned I am horrible unfit. I knew I was a couch potato, but the extend of it surprised me. Art & Writing Didn’t get half as much done as I wanted, but I am slowly establishing my habits...
